People
often ask me why I started my own business.
I tell them it's all about footprints.
Before
founding HTCC, I worked for a California-based software
company with a vision that far exceeded its size. Every
day brought new challenges as a small team worked to transform
a little-known technocompany into a player on the world stage.
I liked knowing that we were creating jobs and wealth
in an environment that was energized, stimulating and
purposeful. Then one day I looked around and there were 700
employees and nearly as many forms to fill out.
And suddenly it just wasn’t fun any more.
I needed to know that I was making a difference. For
the company. For its employees. For its stakeholders.
So
I thought about whether I could make a difference for other
organizations. If
I could bring that commitment, adrenalin, passion and energy
to organizations that still had plenty of vitality and a zest
for building something new. I knew myself well enough to
know that I invest way too much energy just to make footprints
in the rain.
The
day I opened HTCC’s doors for the first time, the CEO of a
global consulting firm put us on retainer. He believed us when
we said our mission was to improve his organization's visibility, image and condition as
measured by improving results. And we did exactly
that.
Since
that first year, software companies, consulting firms,
financial services organizations and even a public utility
have chosen HTCC for that same reason.
Clients call it “having an impact.” I call it one
whale of a footprint.
With
thanks to the clients who believed in us,
Barbara
